Recall to Active Duty
Recall to Active Duty

Oftentimes, after military members have completely
fulfilled their active duty service commitments (frequently,
including multiple deployments) and settled back in to
their civilian lives, they are surprised to receive orders
returning them to active duty.  These orders can disrupt
the member's new job, education, and family obligations.
Many of these members are also suffering with medical
and mental health problems which arose on active duty
and which can affect their ability to serve
again, particularly in a wartime environment.

The response to such orders can range from anger to
helplessness to deep depression.  But you do not have
to face this alone.

Each of the services has a process by which members
can apply for deferral, delay or exemption from these
recall orders.  We have successfully represented
members facing recall to active duty and prepared
packages on their behalf which point out the problems
with their continued services.  In appropriate
circumstances, we have also obtained expert medical and
mental health evaluations for support of these packages,
to illustrate why the service member should not be
recalled to active duty.
