Following a successful defense at a discharge board at which the board voted to retain the member, the service, nonetheless, attempted to discharge the member at 19+ years of service.  Mr. George mounted an aggressive campaign and forwarded detailed correspondence directly to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy arguing that the member should be allowed to keep his retirement based on the board results.  After review, the Secretary reversed his earlier decision and allowed the member to retire.
